Shree Changatini Devi Mahila Sahakari Sanstha is a women’s cooperative in Lumbini Province, selected in the third batch of DGM Nepal competitive small grants. Its sub-project establishes a duna tapari leaf plate enterprise producing bowls and plates pressed from sal and other broadleaf forest leaves. The business suits a women’s cooperative well: raw material is gathered rather than bought, no land is required, the pressing work can be organised in a shared workshop around household responsibilities, and demand is expanding steadily as caterers, temples, institutions and event organisers replace plastic and thermocol tableware. Grant funds are expected to cover pressing machines and dies, a production shed, organised leaf collection arrangements, packaging and market linkage. Mechanised pressing raises both output and product consistency far above hand stitching. Cooperative structure allows shared equipment, pooled marketing and reinvested surplus, supporting DGM Nepal’s aim of durable women-led forest-based enterprises.
