Community Women Development Center is a women’s organisation NGO in Lumbini Province. This sub-project is an integrated moringa cultivation, processing and value-addition project, covering the chain from plantation through to finished product. The integration is what makes it commercially sound: raw moringa leaf is highly perishable and fetches very little, while dried leaf powder, capsules, tea and seed oil sell into the nutrition and health market at many times that price. Moringa itself suits the Terai well, growing fast, tolerating heat and dry spells, yielding within the first year and allowing repeated rather than single-season harvest. Grant funds are expected to cover saplings, plantation establishment, irrigation, drying, grinding and oil-extraction equipment, packaging, food-safety training and market linkage. The plantation adds permanent tree cover on member land while creating recurring women-led income independent of forest extraction.
