Janaki Duna Tapari Udhyog is an enterprise initiated with sole proprietorship of Rajeshwar Mahara Chamar dedicated to producing eco-friendly disposable plates and bowls made from “Sal” leaves (“Duna Tapari”), providing a sustainable alternative to plastic products. This project aims to promote environmental conservation through eco-friendly leaf plates/bowls (duna tapari) and create local employment opportunities for marginalized Dalit communities, particularly for women and youth.
The enterprise utilizes locally available raw materials such as “Sal” leaves to manufacture biodegradable products using semi-automatic leaf plate making machines. This environmentally responsible approach contributes to reducing plastic waste while fostering circular economy practices. The project further aims to strengthen the economic resilience of Dalit households by promoting entrepreneurship, enhancing technical capacity, and building a sustainable market linkage for its products at the local and provincial levels.
This initiative represents a powerful example of how marginalized Dalit communities can lead green enterprise development that combines livelihood improvement, and environmental sustainability.
