Ujagar Krishi Sahakari Sanstha is an active agricultural cooperative organization located in Lalbandi Ward No. 1, Nawalpur. The cooperative has been working closely with local farmers to promote improved farming systems, enhance agricultural productivity, and support livelihood development in the community.
Recently, the cooperative received a grant under the DGM Nepal Project to implement a moringa farming initiative in Haripurwa Ward No. 8. Through this support, the cooperative has expanded its activities in moringa cultivation, engaging local farmers—especially marginalized and smallholder households—to introduce moringa as a high-value and climate-resilient crop.
Ujagar Krishi Sahakari Sanstha regularly works with farmers by providing various forms of assistance, including agricultural training, technical guidance, machinery support, and access to improved farming practices. The cooperative mobilizes resources from different agencies, along with its own investment, to strengthen farmers’ capacity and enhance agricultural outcomes.
Under the ongoing project, the cooperative is focused on promoting moringa farming and exploring ways to produce moringa leaf powder as a value-added product. The cooperative aims to improve processing techniques so that farmers can generate income and strengthen their livelihoods through moringa-based enterprises.
As part of this initiative, the cooperative has already constructed a Moringa Dry Center, which will be used for drying moringa leaves and producing high-quality moringa powder. This processing center is expected to help farmers increase the value of their produce, access better markets, and create sustainable income-generation opportunities.
Through continued collaboration with multiple stakeholders, Ujagar Krishi Sahakari Sanstha plans to further expand its support programs in the areas of skill development, entrepreneurship, agricultural commercialization, and livelihood improvement, ensuring long-term benefits for the farming community.
