Shree Bishwokarma Disabled Association brings together Dalit members of the Bishwokarma community living with disabilities and is based at Bardibas Municipality-8, Khajuriya, Mahottari, Madhesh Province. Under its second-batch DGM Nepal competitive small grant it establishes a fruit nursery producing grafted and seedling fruit stock for sale to local farmers, community forest user groups and municipal plantation programmes. Nursery work is well suited to the membership because it is carried out in a fixed, accessible location, can be adapted to different physical abilities, and earns income from skill rather than large landholdings, which matters where land ownership is limited. Grant funds typically cover nursery infrastructure, mother plants, grafting and propagation materials, irrigation and technical training. The sub-project sits at the intersection of two priority groups in DGM Nepal’s inclusion criteria, Dalits and persons with disabilities, while supplying quality planting material that supports wider tree-cover restoration in Mahottari.
